Need-based scholarships are essential to our mission to admit all qualified students, regardless of financial ability. 

National studies indicate that money, not grades, is most often the determining factor in whether or not a student successfully completes a degree program.

In order to increase student retention rates and attract the best and brightest students, UNC Charlotte is constantly looking for ways to provide need-based financial aid.  Currently, 4% of all students, or 1000 students, receive financial aid with the average award accounting for 31% of tuition and fees.  It is our goal that by 2016, the University will provide financial aid from private sources to 1500 students, with the average need-based award worth $2100.
